Wondering how to CTRL+ALT+DEL in Remote Desktop? When working with Remote Desktop on another computer, you may want to to open the task manager on the remote machine, or to change your password, or to lock the remote computer by pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL.
Since the classic “CTRL – ALT – DEL” combination doesn’t work when working remotely, here’s how you can do all the above tasks.
Method 1. Press Ctrl+Alt+End instead of Ctrl+Alt+Del.
To press CTRL + ALT + DEL on the remote desktop, the only thing to remember is to press END instead of DEL.
So, while working on remote desktop just press CTRL + ALT + END to bring up the classic “CTRL + ALT + DEL” screen, with the options to:
- Lock the remote computer.
- Sign-Out from the Remote Desktop/PC.
- Change your password on he Remote PC.
- Open Task Manager on the Remote Desktop/PC.
Method 2. Press CTRL + ALT + DEL using the On-screen Keyboard in Remote Desktop.
The second method to press CTRL + ALT + DEL in remote desktop, is by using the On-Screen keyboard. To do that:
1. On Remote desktop machine, search for osk and open the on-screen keyboard.
2. Press the CTRL + ALT keys on your physical keyboard and then click the DEL key on the virtual keyboard. *
* Note: If you click all the three keys (CTRL, ALT, DEL) on the on-screen keyboard you’ll face the message: “To use the commands available when pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del, click your use title and choose an option.”
Bonus tips:
- To open Task Manager on the remote PC using only your keyboard, press Ctrl + Windows + Shift + Esc keys.
- To open the Start menu on the remote PC using only your keyboard, press Ctrl + Windows + Esc keys
That’s all folks! Did it work for you?
