If your laptop automatically turns on when you open the lid, it is due to a feature called “Lid open action”, which is designed to automatically turn on your laptop as soon as you open the lid without having to press the power button.
However, despite the fact that “Lid Open Action” is a convenient feature for users who want their laptop to be ready to use as soon as they open it, some traditional users want to disable this feature because they do not want the laptop to power on as soon as the lid is opened.
How to Change Laptop Lid Open Action on Windows 11/10.
Method 1. Disable “Power On when Lid Open” feature in Lenovo & Dell laptops.
Some laptops (Dell, Lenovo, etc.) has the option to change the “Lid Open Action”, in BIOS settings. So…

* Notes:

- Dell: Go to Power menu, scroll down and set the Power On Lid Open option (switch) to OFF.
- Lenovo: Go to Configuration menu and set Flip to Boot option to Disabled
4. After disabling the Lid open action setting, Save and Exit from BIOS settings and you’re done!
Method 2. Change Lid Open action in Power Settings (Windows 10/11).
If you don’t want your laptop to turn on when you open the lid, proceed and modify the “Lid open action” in Power Settings.
1. Press Windows + R keys to open the Run command box.
2. Type control powercfg.cpl and press OK (or Enter)
3. Click Change plan settings.
4. Then click Change advanced power settings.
5. In Advanced Settings, scroll down and expand Power buttons and lid
5a. Set the Lid open action* setting to Do nothing. Then click OK. *
* Note: If the “Lid open action” option is missing from here, follow the instructions below to enable it and then perform the above steps again.
Fix. Enable Lid Open action in Registry.
If the “Lid open action” is missing in Power Settings, apply the steps below to enable it:
1. Open Command Prompt as Administrator. To do that:
