DRIVER POWER STATE FAILURE on Windows 10/ 8/ 7 (Solved)

The “DRIVER POWER STATE FAILURE” issue on Windows 10 is commonly caused by an invalid device driver. In some cases after restarting the computer the “Driver Power State” problem is disappeared because Windows automatically installs the correct device drivers. 

In other cases the “Driver Power State Failure” BSOD issue cannot be solved automatically by Windows and you have to resolve it manually, by updating the driver for the problematic device, by uninstalling a software (e.g. the Antivirus program) that can cause the issue or by changing the power settings in Network devices (e.g. Wireless, Bluetooth, etc.) to avoid sleep when unused.

Method 1. Update Device Drivers to fix the Driver Power State Failure.

1. Open Device Manager. To do that:

  • Press “Windows” + “R” keys to open the RUN window.
  • In “RUN” window “Open” box,  type: devmgmt.msc
  • Press Enter.

2. Locate any device that displayed with a yellow sign (yellow exclamation mark) next to it. If so, then:

3. Right Click at the problematic device and select Update Driver Software.

4. Follow the on screen instructions and let Windows to find and install the latest driver fro the device. *

* If Windows fails to find a driver, then download and install the latest driver from computer manufacture’s support site.

Method 2. Disable Power Saving feature.

1. Open Power Options from Control Panel.

2. Click at Change plan settings.

3. Then select Change Advanced Power Settings.

4. Set the Power plan to High Performance.

5. Scroll down at Wireless Adapter Settings and set the Power Saving Mode to Maximum Performance.

6. Apply the same settings for the Display Adapter (Graphics card) and the Bluetooth Adapter (If any).

7. Click OK to apply changes.
