8. When done, go to File > Save as and save the file at your Desktop with the name: FixWin10Update.reg

10. Double click at FixWin10Update.reg, accept the UAC warning message and click Yes.

Method 3. Fix error 0x80080005 by Repairing Windows Component Store & System Files.

The final method to resolve the update error 80080005, in Windows 10 is to repair the system files using the DISM and the SFC command line tools. To do that:

1. Open Command Prompt as Administrator.
2. In command prompt give the following command and press Enter:

  • DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup
