If after updating your system to Windows 11 24H2, you cannot use your scanner because the scanning software cannot communicate with the scanner, continue reading below to fix the problem.
Many users have reported issues with their scanners after the Windows 24H2 update, especially those using Brother, Canon, or Ricoh scanners. Specifically, after installing the 24H2 version, the scanner cannot be found by the scanning software.
The issue primarily affects scanners that use the eSCL (eScanner Communication Language) protocol to communicate with computers. The eSCL protocol enables driverless scanning over network (Ethernet, Wi-Fi) and USB connections. This issue occurs because the scanner device fails to switch from eSCL mode to USB mode, preventing it from being recognized correctly by the computer.
