If the Windows Security app shows a blank screen with no options after you open it, continue reading this guide to fix the problem.
One of the most common problems after Windows 11 reset is that the Windows security app is not working, showing a white screen with error: “Page not available. Your IT administrator has limited access to some areas of this app, and the item you tried to access is not available”.
The Windows Security “page not available” issue occurs when users try to access the Windows Security app (which manages antivirus, firewall, and other security settings), but the app displays an empty blank screen instead of showing the security options.
This problem is usually caused when a third-party antivirus software is installed on the system or due to an error in the Windows restore/reinstall process (aka “Windows Reset” or “Reset this PC”) process that does not properly install the “Windows Security” application. If you face the same problem, follow the instructions below to fix it.
FIX: Windows Security blank screen “Page not available: Your IT administrator has limited access to some areas of this app” on Windows 11.*
* Important: If you’re using a 3rd-party security program, then this causes this problem.
Method 1. Install all Windows Updates.
1. Navigate to Start > Settings > Windows Update, click Check for updates to download and install all available updates.
2. After updates installation, check if the Windows Security is working and if not, continue to next method.
Method 2. Reinstall Windows Security using “Microsoft.SecHealthUI” appx installer.
1. Navigate to the following location on your computer:
- C:WindowsSystem32SecurityHealth1.0.24xx.xxxxx-0
2. Double-click to open the file named “Microsoft.SecHealthUI_8wekyb3d8bbwe.appx“*
* Note: If you cannot file the “Microsoft.SecHealthUI_8wekyb3d8bbwe.appx” file skip to next method.
3. Click Reinstall to Reinstall Windows Security.
Method 3. Reinstall Windows Security using PowerShell.
1. Open PowerShell as Administrator.
2. Copy and paste the following command in PowerShell window and press Enter.
- add-appxpackage -disabledevelopmentmode -register ((Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.SecHealthUI -allusers).InstallLocation + ‘AppxManifest.xml’)
3. After the execution of the command, open Windows Security to check if the problem is solved.
Method 4. Reinstall Windows Security using “SecurityHealthSetup” installer.
1. Download the “securityhealthsetup_xxx.exe” from the following link (Microsoft Update Catalog)
2. Right-click at the downloaded file and select Run as Administrator. Then choose Yes at the UAC warning message.*
Info: The above setup file automatically creates the missing “SecurityHealth” platform folder named “1.0.2401.13001-0
3. A command prompt window will open on your screen which will automatically close after a few seconds.
4. When this done, open again the Windows Security and the problem should be fixed.
